2011/2012, I was working as a school crossing guard for the County of Maui. I really enjoyed doing this job. It was (at the most) 10-hours a week. I would have liked to have done this same job the next year except that I developed a meniscus tear in my knee and because of that I am trying to rehabilitate it and standing for an extra two hours a day is just too much stress on my knee.
Below is my last hours/report that I turned into the school after the school was finished for the day. The young woman at the office failed to sign it before giving me a copy of my time sheet. Also, my first time sheet from 10-11-2011 isn't featured below as this was my first partial week doing this job and I didn't get a copy of that time-sheet.
MY $500
I will take 25 envelopes and place $20 inside and find those individuals who are less fortunate than me and offer them this money to show my appreciation for this job. It will be part of the money I earned while working for the Maui Police Department doing this school crossing guard job.
I finally found time in November, before Thanksgiving, to offer my first $20 to a young man,by the name of David. I had seen this man at the gym where I worked out and listened to him indicate that he was sleeping outside and trying to find job to help him with his expenses. I determined that when the time was right I would offer him some money.
WAS I OVERPAID?
When I was first hired, I kept my time in such a way that I wasn't sure I was being paid correctly. So, for my first pay period, I questioned payroll whether or not I was paid too much money for the time I submitted. Payroll claimed my pay for this period was correct but I was never quite sure so I decided that I would donate the amount of money I thought I was overpaid to the elementary school I did my school crossing guard job at because they were in a "holiday effort," to raise money for those less fortunate...Below is a copy of the donation check....
RECEIVING NICE GIFTS
Here I will feature a number of nice gifts that I received from parents (?) while I stood out there in the intersection providing safety. In fact, on the last day while I was out there I received a couple of nice cards from two mothers...
Below is a nice gift I received from a boy and his father who stopped his car to hand the gift to me:
The Foodland Gift Card was included in the card above given to me by the person who signed it "Mrs Golden Retriever Lady and Family."
